Dear HASTAC Friends,
We have excellent news to communicate regarding the HASTAC 2017 Conference: “The Possible Worlds of Digital Humanities” in Orlando, FL. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the local organizing committee at the University of Central Florida and the Florida Digital Humanities Consortium, we have found an alternative venue and alternative accommodations for #HASTAC17. We’re on!
The HASTAC 2017 Conference will be held on the main campus of the University of Central Florida on November 3-4, 2017 (with the HASTAC Scholars unconference to be held on November 2nd, 7-10pm).
The local organizing team has worked to ensure that our new venue is in an accessible, compact space on campus, and we so look forward to visiting the UCF campus community.
If you had previously made hotel reservations with the Downtown Marriott, you should have received a re-booking email directly from Marriott, and all transitions to the new near-campus hotels are now complete.
- Register and make your room reservations now if you haven’t already.
- For those who have not yet made room reservations, information about the two near-campus hotels are available on the HASTAC 2017 Accommodations page.
- For future updates about shuttle transportation and other post-Irma updates, please keep an eye on the HASTAC 2017 News page and/or the HASTAC 2017 Twitter (@HASTAC17).
We want to take a moment to recognize the administrative and emotional labor and quick response of our colleagues in Orlando. Even in the midst of post-Irma cleanup, our local organizers were able to ensure that our HASTAC community can gather in November for a wonderful event.
We would especially like to thank the tireless efforts of the HASTAC 2017 Conference Director, Dr. Bruce Janz and Managing Director, Dr. Amy Giroux, as well as Ashli Van Horn in the College of Arts and Humanities for her rapid response and scheduling wisdom and The Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at UCF, Mr. Jeff Moore, for putting the resources of the dean’s office at our disposal. Many others in administrative offices at UCF also went out of their way to make HASTAC 2017 possible. Thank you!
We look forward to seeing you all in Orlando!
Sincerely,
The HASTAC Team
