Hello everyone!
As part of our introduction to the program, new HASTAC Scholars were asked to post a brief blog post introducing themselves. In terms of academics, I am a current first year PhD student in the English department at Northeastern University. My research interests include nineteenth-century American cookbooks and domestic manuals, digital humanities, feminist theory, and labor/class. A lot of my research focuses on the act of recipe reading and writing as collaborative, computational practice. I am also currently the project manager for the Early Caribbean Digital Archive (ecda.northeastern.edu) as well as a research assistant for the Viral Texts project (viraltexts.org). Some of my background also includes a BS in computer science and some of my web design can be viewed at pandemicshakespeare.com, a social annotation platform I worked on developing last summer.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing video games and being a full time mother to my hairless cat, Pluto. Pluto is currently six months old and definitely a energy ball! I also tend to rotate between different craft obsessions (sewing, knitting, quilting, etc.)
I look forward to getting to know everyone better through this program!
